Head Coach Tim Walton recorded his 300th career win as the No. 2-ranked Florida softball team defeated Pacific, 10-5, in the Gators’ first game of the Cox Invitational on Friday evening at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. Senior Kim Waleszonia went 1-for-3, becoming Florida’s all-time career hits leader with 261.
Sophomore Stephanie Brombacher recorded a career-high 12 strikeouts in her eighth win of the season. The righty is now 28-0 in her UF career. The Gators (14-2) nailed three home runs and tallied a season-high 15 hits in the victory over the Tigers.
Florida defeated USF 8-0 in six innings on in its second game of the Cox Invitational. Waleszonia and Ali Gardiner were perfect on the night, going 3-for-3 and 2-for-2, respectively, in the victory.
Senior Stacey Nelson struck out a season-high 12 of the 20 batters she faced in her seventh win of the season. Kristen Gordon (1-2) recorded the loss for the Bulls (11-6), allowing 14 hits on the day.
