Super Photo Gallery: U.S. Army All-American Bowl, 1/9/10
SAN ANTONIO — The West team won the game on the field, topping the East 29-14, but it was the Florida Gators that came up big with a trio of verbal commitments from star players in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 9 at the Alamodome.
West Palm Beach (Dwyer HS) defensive back Matt Elam, Philadelphia (Washington HS) defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd and Moreno Valley, Calif. (Rancho Verde HS) defensive end Ronald Powell each announced their verbal commitment to the Gators.
Powell was named MVP of the game. He finished with 1 TD, a return PAT TD, a blocked FG recovery and 5 unassisted tackles.
Bronx, N.Y. (The Fieldston School) quarterback Cole Marcoux threw two touchdown passes during the fourth quarter, including a 16-yarder to West Palm Beach (Dwyer HS-verbally committed to UF) linebacker Gerald Christian. Marcoux also had a 50-yard TD pass Miramar (Miramar HS) wide receiver Ivan McCartney.
