Photo Gallery: Women's golf, NCAA East Regional, 5/8/09 : The University of Florida women’s golf team had a solid start to the second round of the NCAA East Regional on Friday, but could not keep their rhythm on the back nine holes. Although the team improved their score by four strokes from the previous round, they fell three places on the team leaderboard to 17th place after carding a team total score of 606 (305-301).

For the second-straight round, the team was led by freshman Evan Jensen. Jensen was one of three Lady Gators to card a five-over 75 in her second round, but her first-round score of 71, gave her the best total score heading into the final round. With a six-over 146, Jensen is currently tied for 19th place.

Redshirt sophomore Lauren Uzelatz and freshman Andrea Watts carded the same score for the second-consecutive round, as both Lady Gators are currently tied for 36th place after carding a five-over 75 for a total score of 153 (78-75, +13). Uzelatz saved her best for last, notching her first birdie of the event on her final hole. Watts also collected her first birdies on Friday, carding one-under-par on the 7th and 17th holes.

Redshirt sophomore Nicole Schachner improved her first-round score by two strokes, carding a five-over 75 in her second round of play. She is currently tied for 75th with a 36-hole score of 154 (78-76, +14), just one stroke more than Watts and Uzelatz.

Jessica Yadloczky rounded out the Lady Gators lineup, currently tied for 86th place. The sophomore shaved one stroke off her second-round score for a two-round total score of 157 (79-78, +17).

The Lady Gators tee off for the third and final round on Saturday at 11:50 a.m. Admission is free.

Photo Gallery: Women's Golf, NCAA East Regional, 5/7/09 : The University of Florida women’s golf team kicked off the 2009 NCAA East Regional on Thursday at the Mark Bostick Golf Course. The Lady Gators finished the first round in a tie for 14th place after carding a team total score of 305 (+25).

Freshman Evan Jensen led the Lady Gators with a one-over 71 in her first round. Jensen, competing in her first NCAA post-season event, shot well on the fairways, but could not find her rhythm on the green. She entered the turn at two-over, but rallied back to collect two birdies and one bogey on the back nine. She is currently in a tie for 14th.

Three Lady Gator golfers finished the day in a tie for 73rd after carding an eight-over 78. Freshman Andrea Watts and redshirt sophomore Lauren Uzelatz also made their NCAA post-season debut on Thursday. Watts had a rough start, making a bogey on her first hole and a double bogey on her second. She collected four consecutive pars, only to make a bogey on two of her final three holes on the front nine. She tallied three bogeys on her final nine holes. Similar to Watts, Uzelatz collected five bogeys and one double bogey for her final position in a tie for 73rd.

Jessica Yadloczky had an uncharacteristic day on the golf course, carding a nine-over 79 in her first round of competition. The sophomore, who is currently tied for 81st, entered the turn at one-over but struggled in her final five holes, collecting three bogeys, a double bogey and a triple bogey, respectively.

For the second-consecutive day, the Lady Gators tee off alongside Tulane and East Carolina at 11:50 a.m. on Friday.

UF Men's Golf, 2/14/09 : The University of Florida men’s golf team had a solid first day to take a 10-shot lead after two rounds in the 2009 SunTrust Gator Invitational. Senior Toby Ragland is on top of the leader board after firing 68 (-2) and 65 (-5) on day one for a two-round total of 133 (-7).

The Gators' first round 269 (-11) tied for the fifth-lowest round in tournament history. Led by senior Billy Horschel’s opening 65 (-5), the Gators took a five-shot lead into the afternoon round.

Helping out Horschel were Ragland and juniors Tyson Alexander and Tim McKenney who each shot two-under par 68. Senior Will Strickler rounded out the morning with a one-over par 71.

The rain starting coming down during the second round, but even the weather couldn’t keep the Gators from increasing their lead. Ragland holed six birdies in the afternoon to equal Horschel’s first-round 65 (-5).

Horschel and McKenney carded even-par 70s and Alexander finished with a one-over par 71 (+1). Horschel is two shots behind Ragland in second place heading into the final round, while McKenney (T-7th) and Alexander (T-9th) also sit in the top-10. Strickler is tied for 42nd at five-over par 145.

Three other UF golfers are playing as individuals in the event, led by freshman Mu Hu who is tied for fourth at three-under 137 for the tournament. Redshirt sophomore Andres Echavarria is tied for 12th at 140 (E) and freshman Max Kieffer is tied for 14th at 141 (+1).

Heading into Sunday’s final round, Florida holds a 10-shot lead over Ole Miss (555, -5).
